Austrian Volleyball Federation
or shortly OVV from Wien, Austria, is the supervisor and to some extent also organizer of all official volleyball activities in Austria. This includes volleyball, beach volleyball and snow volleyball. Every year the OVV is organizing more than 330 competitions held throughout the country.
The six highest national leagues are under direct organisation of the OVV. Over 50 teams are competing in these leagues on a professional or semiprofessional level. Every season around ten matches of these leagues are broadcasted live by the Austrian Broadcast ORF.
Over 20 national youth championships volleyball and beach volleyball are organized by the OVV. These competitions are also part of the talent selection process for the respective national squads. More than 10,000 students from schools all over Austria are participating in special volleyball and beach volleyball competitions created and organized by the OVV for schools only. The OVV supports projects that help clubs to cooperate and engage with schools in their neighborhood to bring as many children to volleyball as possible.
The responsibility of over fifteen national teams volleyball and beach volleyball lies within the OVV. The activities of all male and female teams are equally distributed.
From April until October the Austrian Beachvolleybal Tour takes place on 6-10 locations all over Austria.
The OVV organizes numerous international matches and tournaments. In the year 2018 nine international events will take place in Austria. Including the world most famous beach volleyball Major event in Vienna and the first ever held snow volleyball European Championships.
OVV is the biggest organized volleyball body in Austria with about 25.000 members in over 400 clubs competing in different leagues and tournaments. Nine regional associations of the nine Austrian counties are stakeholders of the ÖVV.
Over 50 people are working in different fields (coaches, national teams, school volleyball, office etc.) for the ÖVV. More than 220 athletes are being supervised and coached in various national teams during a year.
